We launched our boat in Lake Barkley, Kentucky at Green Turtle Bay. Beautiful place. Clean water. Weather is still HOT, but tolerable with AC.

Green Turtle Bay is a premier resort offering numerous amenities. The property has 2 restaurants, spa and fitness center, indoor pool, two outdoor pools, rental cottages and houses, and yacht sales…all within walking distance. There are courtesy cars and rental golf carts for cruising around the property or running into town for provisions.

The nearby historic village of Grand Rivers, population 350, is quaint and charming. Patti’s 1880 Settlement hosts several restaurants with great food, beautiful gardens, and Patti’s great southern hospitality. There are log cabin gift shops, animal park for viewing, streams, fountains, Miniature Golf and gold panning. Lovely meandering garden paths lead from shop to shop drawing the visitor throughout the estate.
Patti’s 1880 Settlement

Currently, the marina is host to the Nina and Pinta Caravel ships. The Nina was built entirely by hand and without the use of power tools. It is the most historically correct Columbus replica ever built. They were common trading vessels. There are no plans to rebuild the Santa Maria because she is too big to make it through the waterways these ships must use. Columbus considered her very slow and clumsy.

We are entertaining a group of harbor turtles who swim up to us and take bologna from our hands.

We are harbored at Pier 10 in Marina Village some distance from the main marina facilities. We fire up the dinghy and putt across to do laundry, dine, or enjoy the other amenities. The shoreline is dotted with grand homes.

Peaceful evenings with gorgeous sunsets bring calm to our active days.
